The strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting the armed counter-revolution in Sistan and Baluchestan Province from 1978 to 2019

Abstract

Research-based studies and methods of historical and document-based strategy research, as well as some other qualitative methods, have shown that it is possible to identify and formulate relatively organized and repetitive plans, decisions, and actions of a political unit. In this research, using the qualitative method of content analysis and leveraging theoretical insights, as well as utilizing upstream documents and guided interviews with experts and specialists, we sought to uncover the strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting the armed counter-revolution in the Sistan and Baluchestan province from 1978 to 2019. Accordingly, the results of this study, which include the general strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting the armed counter-revolution from the beginning of the Islamic Revolution until 2019 in the Sistan and Baluchestan province, were extracted as follows: "Cultural, social, and economic strategies" as well as "political, legal-judicial strategies" as soft strategies; "intelligence and security strategies" as semi-hard strategies; and "military strategies" as hard strategies, all under the parent category of "general strategies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in confronting the armed counter-revolution."They are included. In this research, according to the findings obtained from text coding, the percentage share of each strategy, including hard and semi-hard armed strategies, is as follows: military strategy constitutes 32.32%; security strategy 37.38%; and intelligence strategy 24.24% of the total strategies.
