Operational role and military functions in securing border provinces from the victory of the Islamic Revolution to the beginning of the war

Abstract

 
After the formation of the Islamic Revolution, some opposition parties, groups, and groups in order to achieve the desired demands, in some border provinces, started armed actions, mostly in the form of irregular wars, independently or jointly, which caused disruption to the order and security of cities and regions, but also caused damage to the military forces, people, and resources of the country. The government's efforts to establish and maintain security did not yield the desired result, and the army was tasked with establishing security in the border provinces with other organizations of the armed forces The army took action based on the announced mission in the border provinces and established security in the border provinces with a prominent role and performance. The main purpose of the article is to investigate and analyze the performance of the army based on the operational role played in establishing the security of the border provinces of Iran with an emphasis on the provinces of West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Kermanshah and Khuzestan in the years 1978-1980. The statistical population was in two qualitative and quantitative phases of studying related documents and researches as well as experts within the organization with purposeful selection. The method of library collection and its tools were the study of documents, interviews, and distribution of questionnaires. To measure the validity and validity of the questionnaire, a preliminary test was used. The interview questions were opened and closed and Cronbach's alpha was calculated as 0.919. Qualitative analysis was performed based on content and quantitative analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS and it was concluded: The army had 3 roles and 16 very good performances and had a very important operational role in providing security in the four border provinces
